Shane Camoin
Shane Camoin was born with a brush in one hand and a pen in the other. Before he could crawl, he was drawing. Along with his passion for visual arts, Shane has won awards for writing and teaching and has lectured on the concept of identity at symposiums and conferences throughout Asia, Europe, and North America.
Artist’s Statement
I prefer to create art without intention. I rarely begin with an idea or concept, and if I do, it is often fairly loose and flexible. For me, art is a meditative experience that often leads to catharsis. My mind is constantly racing and art gives me an opportunity to slow down and let go. Rather than imposing my will on the canvas, I allow it to tell me where it wants to go and embrace the journey it takes me on.
