Climate Change my Body
The warmest years on record
and my body is coming into its own
as a furnace.
Uncanny heat from a late October night
envelops me
and my core magnifies it,
I am like a mirror
twisting rays of sun
into one hundred thirty pounds
of solid fire.
I imagine Earth is feeling this way now,
imagine her throwing off the blanket
to lie against the cool
painted surface of the wall at night
and complaining bitterly, losing her way
by day.
