“we know intuitively that……”

what, I wish to ask, do I know?

“……the artist

must use a large soft brush giving way
to the slightest pressure or see
his frail stencils torn to pieces.”

His intuition assumes
this finely scissored art will speak.
We gaze together.

Within each open-winged butterfly

a small larval silhouette

will soar untouched

until a scented net of yellow dust

brushes the translucent

nectar seeker

fluttering from intimate parts

of one blossom

to another’s.
